A perfect place for a quiet getaway. My husband and I visited Sark for the first time recently and fell in love with the place. Although only small, Sark has many miles of footpaths; leading to some wonderful deserted bays and cliffs. Not really a child-friendly place - we left ours at home! But you could easily spend four of five days just wandering and looking at the spectacular views. We visited all of the hotels whilst there and although some were very nice, I am glad we stayed at Stocks. It is very central in the island and offered excellent food, served by very friendly staff who couldn't do enough to help. My only gripe, and it really isn't a big one, was that our room overlooked the back of the hotel and the staff quarters... not much of a view; but next time, I will just request a room at the front. The hotel is not modern - I don't think anything in Sark is! But it offers very clean accommodation with the extra homely touches - like fresh towels twice a day and your bed made and bedside lights put on in the evening. A very friendly hotel and we would definitely go back.
