We revisted this pub as during the last year we had a very pleasant meal here. However. yesterday we did not have the same experience. Service was slow despite the fact that there were few people in the pub. My husband's fish and chips was passable, the mushy peas being particularly good. Unfortunately our elderly aunt's fish pie was a disaster and in retrospect we should have sent it back. The pastry was burnt and the fish did not seem to have any sauce! My paella had a nice flavour but was not authentic. The rice was not paella rice and prpobably had not been cook4ed in the broth as it had not absorbed the flavours. Also a lot of the clams were not open. It also would have been useful to have a bowl for shells. Such a shame wonderful pub, wonderful setting but we will not be hurrying back for thr food!
