Although this place is right on my doorstep I haven't been there hardly at all. But, last Sunday four of us went to try out their lunches. It was welcoming and friendly. The food was well prepared and good sized proportions. And it was relatively cheap too - about £35 all in. Certainly would go again. Well done folks! Oh, they also had a roaring fire too! Always good to have real fires eh? 8/10

I also attened the so called dead pub on christmas eve and had a delicious meal with 7 other people. We were offered a lovely table which faced the log fire. The waiting staff couldnt do enough for us and we also saw how they attened to others in a very friendly manner. We ordered from the main menu and everyone throughly enjoyed it. At the end of our meal we were offered desserts but we were informed shorlty after that the coffee machine was out of order. i would definately recommend it !!!!

This was the first time to this pub and the last! We went there at my brother's invitation to celebrate his birthday. I have never seen a pub so empty on Christmas Eve.Had we not been there as a party of twelve, the place would virtually been empty! The service was atrocious, in fact, it was non existent. We arrived for our meal at 2pm and left at 5:30 having had to cancel our coffee order because the service (sic) was so awfully slow.At least 45 minutes between courses and when the meals did actually arrive, most of the vegetables were mushy and overcooked. Never again!

The Unicorn Inn is now under new management offering food from 12pm till 9pm mon- Saturday. With a lunch time and early dinner menuthen serving an al a carte menu from 6pm onwards. Sunday Lunches are then served 12-4. If you are looking for quality food from our head chef and to top that off our table waiting service , then the unicorn inn is for you and your family. The Unicorn Inn is a very charasmatic pub with a family orientated atmosphere. If the indoors of this establishment isnt enough for you then take a step out to a large well maintained Beer garden with seating and a place for the children to enjoy. We hope to see you Soon.

Went to the Unicorn last night. 6 of us altogether. The meal was great. Garlic mushrooms were absolutely gorgeous. There was a roaring fire which made it lovely and warm bearing in mind the snow we had yesterday. The staff were extremely friendly and the service they gave was first class.

I am the new manager of the Unicorn Inn in Old St Mellons, Cardiff, and recently came upon this review. I took over the pub in July 2007 and have a new chef currently working for me. I would like to invite you to revisit the pub and dine with us and look forward to hearing your comments following the change in management and staff.
