Arrived at this quaint little place for some food, inside was a mixture of curios and knick knacks fantastic. The only downside there was only 1 person cooking and waiting tables so we decided not to bother eating.

I visited Loch Long as a child with my siblings, my father and grandfather where we used to fish for mackerel off this sea loch. We used to stop off at the green kettle back then (25-30 years ago) as we loved their home baking after fishing. My grandfather passed away and we decided to scatter his ashes at Loch Long. All 14 of us met up at the green kettle, although my sister had arranged for us to eat somewhere else afterwards as the exterior of the property gave her the impression it was not worth visiting. How wrong was she!!! We popped in to reminisce and we couldn't have got a more welcoming establishment. The place has a lovely homely feel inside and still produces fabulous home baking. They also sell little trinkets and second hand curios. The owners/employees were very friendly and were fine about 14 of us traipsing in even although we only bought 5 scones from them. My only regret is that we didn't eat there. It just goes to show 'you should never judge a book by it's cover'. I hope this little gem remains until my son is old enough to marry and take his own children there fishing. Please don't be put off by the exterior of the property. It is tired but certainly not unloved.

had a high tea at the green kettle tonight, and the food was quite good, for the price we paid. the service was good. The place is terrible run down, in fact the last time I was there was 24 years ago and I have to say it still looks exactly the same as it did then. maybe more work in marketing the place is needed, with a good website it would appeal to visitors. and a makeover is needed.
