We go here quite often and decided to recommend the Ship Inn to our friends and all meet there for dinner as the food is generally good and it caters for familys, I will say the food was good and all the staff with exception to 2 were very accomodating and polite. We all ordered our meal together but 3 adults and 1 child in our party did'nt get their meal until 20 mins after everyone else. The excuse from the deputy manager was that maybe the steak was cooked different to all the other steaks ordered (hhmmmm) !!! One young blonde/white haired lad was not bothered at all and just said oh well when we told him some of our meals had not arrived. Then when i told him he had put the wrong size childrens menus in the till his response again was to shrug his shoulders! So because of the deputy manager and the young blonde/white haired lad I will not be recommending the Ship Inn to friends or family again, if this is the service they receive.

We have visited on several occasions since the summer and decided to travel from Huddersfield to Mirfield on christmas eve as part of a party of 24 enjoying the festive menu. the pub caters for families and i thoroughly recommend this pub for families of young children. with the indoor play area and 4 young kids aged 1 - 6 year old it made christmas enjoyable for us all as we didnt have to spend all evening watching the kids, that along with the fact they didnt get bored quickly made it a good evening. you still need to be there for them but you can relax too. in the summertime the garden is all set for kids to play and enjoy and you can eat out in the sun and enjoy watching the little ones play. well done to the pub and the landlord for all this , we will certainly look forward to going again, in fact we are going for new years day dinner, look after the customers and they come back time after time, top marks
