I visited whilst walking in the area. Good pint of Black Sheep, tasty hot beef baguette and excellent service. Would have stayed longer but the piped muzac with technobeat drove me to distraction so I had to escape.

I had heard the Rustic Arms had a new landlord and chef so I went along to check it out. Absolutely brilliant. Great food and service and the pub had a really good atmosphere to it. Am now a regular.

I love good food and so when I read good reviews for The Rustic Arms I decided it was worth travelling 15 miles to sample it. Unfortunately the Rustic Arms website had not pointed out to me that food was not available on Mondays. When I said to the man behind the bar, 'are you not serving food tonight?', he said, 'No ...... is that it?', 'Yes thank you', I replied. I think he must have been having a bad day.

i would just like to update you all on the rustic arms,my mum recently started managing the rustics in march 09.ive just read the last 2 reviews and was shocked to hear they didnt enjoy the meals.the reviews were from june and this is when they didnt have many staff due to been new to the rustics and not been sure how busy it was going to get.the chef was a different one to the one they have now. i visit every week to have a carvery and i enjoy(not been biast)you can either have carvery from wednesday to sunday and bar meals all the time, also a seperate salad bar so you can choose your own salad and plenty to choose from.they have plenty of deserts to choose from and even cornetto ice creams for the kiddys.i would recomend the rustics and hope the people who didnt enjoy would reconsidder and hope they enjoy. my mum is very polite and doing a great job so please call in for a pint and say hi .

We went to the Rustic Arms following a recent recomendation all be it about the carvery. When we arrived there were several others eating meals so it looked as if the meals would be ok. I had the steak pie which to be fair was ok but the chips were burnt and the frozen peas were luke warm. My wife had fish and chips again the chips were burnt and the fish turned out to be oven baked frozen fish in breadcrumbs not fresh battered which you would expect in a restaurant and again the peas were luke warm. My son had a hot beef baguette which contained a small amount of salad and 2 thin strips of beef. All in all not a very good meal and certainly not worth the money we will not be going back again. The menu is quite poor and everything seems to be frozen apart from the burnt chips. Also expensive for what you get. Try the Harvester in Castleford near Xscape far better value and the food is excellent.

Cannot believe no reviews written since 08 unless all experiences were as bad as mine! Visited with my family of 5 and spent over £75 on meals and drinks. About 100 people in and outside the pub. 1 Assistant behind bar and one waitress, both doing their best and polite but service very slow. I ordered a 10oz rump steak-rare. Two pieces of meat arrived that probably did weigh 10oz but were each about 3/8ths thick and could not be cooked rare, they were well done to say the least and very poor quality meat. Two pieces of so called chocolate cake were hard and the custard almost cold. They were not touched beyond first mouthful. I would not embarass the staff by complaining when they were so busy, I cannot contact them on the internet although I have tried, I therefore resort to this method and will most certainly not be returning. Sorreeeee

we were a group of 22 people split between 2 rows of tables and the point i would like to make was that the firt row had finished their main course before the second rows arrived Time lapsed from finishing starter to main course arriving was 45 mins poor by anybodys standard and what makes it worse was they knew what we had selected 2 days prior to our visit. No organisation ie 50% of us ordered steak and chips you would have thought there would have been mustard / vinager on the tables. I personaly found the food (despite getting chips when I ordered potatoes) quite good but I had the feeling we were viewed as a inconveniance by a staff which wanted a quiet night
