Booked a table.Arrived on time.Party of 6.Ordered meals.Startes arrived. An hour later we were asked if we wanted coffee and desserts. No main courses had been cooked for us.Can you believe it?We left in disgust but were still charged for drinks and starters. We didn't even get an apology! AVOID

Table booked for 7.30pm for 10 people, finally shown to table, after frequent requests, at 8.40pm. Restaurant not busy at the time! Starters OK, main courses very poor, chicken breasts no more than 2" in diameter, following complaints, not charged for, pork hard and dry, lamb shanks the same. The waitress was very apologetic but was the only one on duty together with one bar man and the pub and restaurant did get busy. Serious shortage of staff on duty, what will it be like nearer Christmas, I wouldn't like to think. None of the party would consider dining there again as there are many far superior eateries within a 5 or 6 mile vicinity.

When it was an Out and Out the food and service was good. I cannot comment about the food today. We arrived and was told by a member of staff to choose a table and they would be over to take our order. 20 minutes later not even drinks order been taken and staff just walked past us ignoring us, even though some other customers were actually taken to a table by a member of staff and a drinks order taken straight away, so we left and went to another restaurant nearby.

Iwas staying in nearby Hollins Hall last week and the Fox was reccomended by a local. I visited with my wife and 2 year old daughter and must say that the staff were very friendly and efficient and the food was excellent. When visiting the area next i will certainly be going back.

Place not a Beefeater any more but looks fantastic after just re-opening. Just picked a table and then ordered at the bar. Choice of menu is great, alot more traditional than before and a smaller choice but the food is made freshly on site now and tastes fantastic. Perfect place to just stop for a drink or to come out for a celebration meal 5 stars

Table for 4 in a very pleasant upstairs room. Welcomed on arrival and allocated 1 waitress. Service throughout ( even with a trainee who was supervised very closley ) was very good, attentive, aware and knowledgable about the menu. The food was lovely, cooked well, proportioned well with a reasonable vege choice ( 3 items on the main ). Altogether a very good meal out, I have already recommended it to family.
