I have visited the Waggon & Horses on many occasions with my family and have been very happy with the outings. However on Easter Monday I and my companions were very unhappy with the service we received. A table had been booked for 1.30pm we arrived at 1.20pm and were shown to the table. After a few minutes we were asked if we would like to order a drink which we did. However it was not until they came for our food order that we were informed that there was a 45min. wait.In fact we had to wait longer. On arrival the food was fine but with 3 children who very easily get bored with waiting we should have been informed of the delay before we ordered our drinks and we would have made a decision whether to wait or not.

Having Been to this pub once before I was looking forward to a return visit, unfortunately this time the pub failed miserably. Went this time with a large group (table prebooked), Service was non-existent, with the main course taking over 90mins to arrive (despite several times being told we were next in line). Staff including Manager were in-different to complaints Would NEVER revisit!

We went to this pub for my husbands birthday and my own. All the meals were good except for my husbands on both occasions. My husband had the 20 ounce steak and it was a poor cut of meat at both visits. We will try somewhere else for the next time we dine out.

This is a good place to eat. The staff are friendly, welcoming and approachable and give prompt service. The pub is large and clean with plenty of seating inside and out. Outside on the patio area are lots of tables and bench chairs. In the summer large parasols are put over the top of the tables. The pub is sited alongside a canal so it is nice to watch the boats go by, although there is a car park between the pub and the canal. There is a small play area for the children. Food is good value, especially the offer meal deals. Ladies toilets are easy to find and nice and clean.

To celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary my wife and I decided to visit the Waggon and Horses. We had not been since it was modernised and decided to go after driving past many times and commenting on how nice it looked. We arrived at approximately 7.15pm without prior booking a table and were seated without too much of a problem more or less immediately. The inn was about half full. We ordered drinks and very quickly ordered our main meals as we both knew what we wanted (steak and gammon. The drinks were delivered very quickly together with complimentary nacho's and a dip which was a nice touch. We waited 40 minutes and there was no sign of our food. A party of 8 were sitting at a table next to us and they had been served starters and more or less had finished their main courses when I politely asked a member of staff why we had been waiting so long. I was informed there was a delay of roughly 30 minutes in serving food of which we had not been told when ordering. 30 minutes is not considered too bad but this was 40 minutes. We decided to wait a while longer but after 50 minutes our food had still not arrived and I decided to pay for our drinks and leave. In my opinion there was no excuse for the delay as we noticed a couple enter the premises and they were served food within 20 minutes. This made our minds up to leave and I was so upset at what was a special occasion being ruined. It was obvious that for some reason we had been overlooked. When we arrived I was impressed by the decor and the atmosphere. I intend to take a family party of 10 people on a Saturday evening to celebrate our anniversary in the near future and we commented that this may be an ideal venue as there were large round tables which would cater for this number of people. There is absolutely no chance of this happening now.If 2 people can't be seved food when it is half full on a Tuesday evening what chance have 10 people got on a Saturday! I don't feel I am being unreasonable in my comments and would inform you there is no intention of a future visit by myself or friends and family. Thanks for ruining the night!
