We visited the Dog and Pheasant for Sunday lunch for a special 70th birthday. There were 12 of us including 4 children.Everyone was extremely helpful and friendly. The food was brilliant and we all tried different roasts. The children's meals were great and two of our party were very well catered for who had very special diets.Nothing was too much trouble and we felt very welcome. We will certainly be going again.

After my wife finishes work at 9.00 p.m. on Monday evenings we like to go out for a relaxing drink, the Dog and Pheasant being one of the most convenient pubs we have visited in our immediate area. There is always an interesting selection of beers and wines and the building is comfortable and characterful. We have also eaten there on a number of occasions in the past 20 years, and although it has never quite lived up to its reputation (the most bizarre occasion being the serving of food in Kilner jars), we have always been back to give it another go. However, if you want a quiet drink in the evening don’t go to the Dog and Pheasant because the bar staff start cleaning up around you at about 9.15 p.m. While I realise that Monday evenings are not exactly the busiest of the week the fact that bar towels were hung on the pumps and all remaining chairs were stacked on the tables by 9.45 p.m. was enough to give us the message that we weren’t wanted (and this has happened more than once). If the Dog and Pheasant is a restaurant then fair enough, but I was under the impression that it is also a pub, and as such presumably stays open until around 10.30 – 11.00 p.m. When I quizzed the barmaid about opening hours on Mondays I was told that they had cleared up because there were no customers (which makes me wonder what we were!) – but the lack of customers is hardly surprising if you give the impression that you want to shut up shop at 9.30 p.m. Having run a pub myself I should have been horrified if my staff gave such an impression to my customers, and at 9.15 p.m. you can assume nothing. Sadly I shall now be writing the Dog and Pheasant off my list, and while I realise that the loss of a few quid on Monday evenings is not exactly going to affect the takings enormously, it all mounts up during the course of a year.

7 of us celebrated my daughters birthday at the D & P. We all gave the 6 different starters 10/10. After much conjecture we decided 8.5/10 for the main courses 6 differing once again. Would have been much higher if the vegetables or lack of them was sorted out.I must say that it was one of the best pub meals I have had for a very long time. The Beer & Lager were tip top, and you have to try the sparkling prosecco rose,it is one of the best. Service was very good and not at all tardy. I thoroughly recommend.

I understand the Dog and Pheasant is under new management. Had a really delicious meal with my husband. Excellent service. Log fires created the perfect atmosphere. Will definitely return.

This idealic country pub is now under new ownership and is well worth a visit. The Sunday roasts are now back to their very best and sitting next to one of the 4 open fires sipping a glass of mulled wine or a pint of Timothy Taylors Landlord is a great way to spend a cold winters night. The back garden is now fully open and will be a great place for a lazy summers day with a cold beer and some of their great food.

Having heard of a review in the Waitrose Magazine by Pierre Marco White some months back, we were booked via friends for Sunday lunch. Not only was our reserved table in desperate need of wiping, we watched as all the tables around us were emptied, filled and served with their Sunday lunch before we finally complained that we had been waiting for 1 hr and 15 mins. Our meal eventaully arrived....cold, served on cold plates, with undercooked boiled/roast potatoes and very fatty beef. One member of our party requested a yorshire pudding with their roast lamb and was served at an extra cost of 50p. When we complained that the meal was late and cold, we were treated with sarcasm and rudeness, with no apology or respect. We have eaten in many establishments in and around Surrey and I have to say that the service and quality of the meal was the worst that any of us have experienced and not only will we never eat there again but I will ensure that our experience is known to any other potential customers.
