In answer to previous comments from people about the cats and dogs in the Yew Tree, they are NOT allowed in the kitchen and the food, especially from the homemade board is delicious!!!! Please don't write comments when you don't actually know the truth, Kate on 1st May!!!!

We stayed at a B&B close to All Stretton and called in at Yew Tree for an evening meal. Noticing the large dog asleep on a bench in the bar and a sleepy cat on the bar, we immediately felt at home. The pub atmosphere was real and friendly even though only a few locals were in. The food was excellent- best home pies either of us had tasted in a long while. Yes the Landlord cusses (It is his pub & home) - so what?? He was also extremely friendly and helpful, freely offering advise and help re. our walking plans for the following day. Thanks! Thanks to Harriet the barmaid too for making us welcome in the best pub we visited while in the UK.

Visit the pub by all means it is interesting, but don't order a meal. Kitchen disgraceful with cat jumping all over and dog wandering in and out of the kitchen. Needs a serious looking at.

What an awesome pub! The landlord is a legend! And I mean that, because whilst having a few beers in Church Stretton first, the locals told us of what to expect in the Yew Tree! A very eccentric and colourful character he is too! All the locals were easy to talk to, very friendly. Only problem was, it didnt open until 7pm on a Sat?

Just had to write a few words about the Yew Tree in All Stretton as it has the best atmosphere a pub could possibly have. Me and my friend use a campsite approx 3 miles away, but always make the walk down to this characteristic place. The landlord 'Paul' is unique, I have been there approx 8 times now, and I hope to be going lots more in the very near future. A very welcoming pub, friendly locals, and just a fun place to be to listen to ther banter and the landlords down to earth comments. He has made us feel welcome in the pub, there was a super barmaid working on the Sunday who poured us lots of nice beer. Please take time to pop in if visiting, but try not to leave it until too late in the afternoon as you will see why. Enjoy

What a gem. The landlord is, shall we say entertaining. The locals are extremely welcoming and as soemone earlier said to sit and listen to the banter is so entertaining. We never ate there but talking to the locals they assured us that it is very good. The second night we visted I stood at the bar chatting to some of the locals and it was if I had been going there for years. And just to put something right about the comment of a 'surley landlord' well the last round my mates and i had was on the house. If you are a shrinking violiet and upset by colourfull language go elsewhere. If you want a pub with bags of charachter and lots of banter this is the place for you.

after a lovley afternoon spent in inwood playing with the kids and flying a kite...we thought we would vist the yew tree for a pint...i walked to the bar and ordered four drinks and some crisps...the drinks were poured by a polite barmaid...i went to pay with my card...to realise they didnt take cards..and i had no cash...they were very trusting and let us drink our beverages out side and then go to the local town..to get some cash...would just like to say how lovley the landlord was and very trusting...thank you...x

Lucky indeed ! Came across the Yew Tree by pure chance one day and what a gem. Too late for food but no problem sandwiches were produced. Quickfire banter twixt landlord and regulars provided the cabaret. What a gem a match for the Three Stags Heads in the Peak District.

How lucky are we to have this pub as our local? Extremely!!! Take no notice of the faint hearted. Wit and humour lie at the heart of this treasure. Banter worth travelling for, and irreverence worthy of the best of British. Conformity and PC attitudes are a million miles away from the Yew Tree, and long may it remain so, a true original.

The Yew Tree is a proper traditional country pub and should be treasured. The food is homemade traditional pub fayre thats superb everytime (I've had over 20 meals there in the last three years) and they offer a great specials board. There's normally 3 or 4 real ales on, and a huge beer garden to drink them in, looking across at caer caradoc. Negative reviews will have been left by people with no sense of humour, who don't know any better than plastic service from suburban eateries. Definately worth a visit, highly recommended.

, the local bar props are quintessentially English village people and the atmosphere is quiet - most of the time! What more could you want from a local village pub where real people live real lives and visit the pub to relax. So close to a town that is so far up its own rear end that nothing is left sticking out to aid its removal, the Yew Tree, Mr B. and the locals provide a breath of real fresh air in an otherwise pompous and conceited world. Best wishes to all at the Yew, (President Putin)

Had a very similar experience to the person how visited on the 7th March, as we approached the Pub a man came out, looked at us and said the 'F' word, we later found out that this was the Landlord! His choice of conversation left little to be desired and it was suggested that every one should leave as he needed a .........(I can't finish the sentence as the review would be removed). I dare say that this was meant to be a joke but only a few locals seemed to find it funny. On entering the Pub we left our walking boots in the Porch so as not to take mud in, when we left the Pub the shoe laces had been tied together and guess who was the only person we had seen going out that way! AVOID

I don't know much about much, but one thing I do consider myself an expert in is going to Pubs. I've been in a few, quite a few to be honest. In fact my wife would say I've been in too many!!! The Yew Tree in All Stretton is absolutely brilliant and the Landlord is a national treasure. The Pub, it's locals and the Landlord make me want to move to the village! Great food too! A crackin' Boozer.

On Sunday myself and 3 friends walked Caer Caradoc and The Lawler stating at Church Stretton and walking back through All Stretton where we stopped at the Yew Tree Inn. I was first through the door closely followed by one of the others the landlord said "you can have the one then F*** Off because I have to be somewhere" I felt like leaving then and there if it was not for the others. Then as 2 of the others walked in he shouted "how f***ing more of you are there? There was about 6 locals at the bar all listening to this idiot and did not seem to bat an eyelid at his rude and offensive behaviour. I think he thoughht himself a Basil Fawlty but he lacked the wit. We got our drinks sat down and drank as fast as possible and got out he was very loud drunk (so it seemed) and obnoxius and I will not be visiting there again in a great hurry. Shame really as it looks and is a nice place just that the landlord was a total [censored] We marched on to Church Stretton and had a drink in a much nicer pub which had a great welcome and free of an idiot behind the bar. Apart from the Idiot we had a great days walk great views from Lawler and Caradoc

I have to strongly disagree with the negative comment left. I visit the Yew Tree every week and it is by far the best pub in Shropshire. The landlord is definitley Shropshires answer to Basil Fawlty but that's what makes it so charming. The food is delicious, yes it is not ready in 10mins like McDonalds but when I go for a meal I like to take my time and enjoy a drink or 2 and have a nice conversation. It is freshly cooked each day, not like the micro-technitions you get in most pubs these days. The toliets are not damp at ALL infact, they have a lovely smell and fresh expensive soap and towels. I think the other people must have visited a different establishment - stick with McDonalds next time!!!!

Like a cross between the Slaughtered Lamb and Fawlty Towers. They don't take credit or debit cards, the landlord is surly to say the least and the food is warmed-over, average and takes forever to arrive. Our meal was a 90 minute wait. We arrived bang on 7pm but I had to drive to a cash point to be able to pay for anything. The toilets are damp, the place smells of stale beer. Overall, lamentable.
