Hello to all customers old and new, I took over The Wheelwrights as Licencee on July 1st 2009 and from reading your reviews I sense you have not been impressed!!! however I promise you, things have changed. You will always receive a warm welcome from friendly staff who ensure a relaxed atmosphere in which to enjoy a drink or two. For live music lovers there will be a good local band playing every friday night with no admission fee and asap quiz nights will be re-instated. Food will be available pretty soon when we get the kitchen sorted, will keep you posted on that one. Opening hours are 12noon to 11 mon to fri and 12noon to 10.30 sunday (and we won't close early) Please come along and give us another chance we'd love to see you. Regards Shandy

Didn't last long this time either. Still, there are other pubs. I feel sorry for the staff and wish them well.

Have been a regular customer of the Wheelwrights Arms for some years. It has always been a busy, welcoming pub, which I felt catered for everyone. Live music played a key part of it's success, with a large variety of quality bands. You could always guarentee an excellent pint, which you could tell was well looked after. The landlord and landlady always ensured that everyone had a great time. With a variety of events throughout the week. I am sorry to see the licensees have now left, which I heard was due to the credit crunch. I have always been impressed with the pub whilst it was under their management, however, on a recent visit my view, unfortunately has changed. I found it uninviting, dirty and the cliental not what I would expect. I feel it is an extension to North Street, with the hoodlums to go with that. The beer well, least said the better. I wish the new people well, but they need to up their game plan, or another great pub will go down the swanny!!

The landlord has now left blamimg the credit crunch. Well i can tell him that several people will return under a new landlord. All I ever saw in there was male groups swearing away. If friends of the landlord were there the pub would be open longer. If not it was time at 10.30. The atmospoere was aggressive and the landlord I found to be very unfriendly to put it mildly. Good riddance I say and good luck to the new landlord.
