Went for meal for mothers day and boy the meal was delicious. I can't believe the reviews saying that they were waiting ages and had rubbish food. I've been there loads of times and always have had fantastic service by all staff. My suggestion is to go and try it,its well worth going d very reasonable,I couldn't eat all on my plate as portions are very generous.

Visited The Old Shire this Lunchtime for a Carvery, having heard the adverts on the local commercial Radio. We were shown to our table and left with a couple of menus. That's it basically. If we hadn't walked out after 30 minutes of non-service, we'd possibly be sitting there now, still waiting for someone to come and take our meal order! Worse was yet to come when one of the Staff followed us out of the Restaurant with a snivveling apology begging us to return, saying that they weren't expecting any bookings for Lunch! Why are they spending money on Radio advertising then? If this had been a 'one off' I might have put it down to bad luck, notwithstanding the fact that they were hardly rushed off their feet with about a dozen cars in the car park when we arrived, but a similar thing happened to us about four years ago at The Old Shire - then we were left for 45 minutes before we'd had enough and left. It seems that instead of spending money on Radio advertising, they'd do better to spend it on Staff. I won't give them a third chance!

Will never being going back its under new management and most defiantly will not be going back. One of the staff were very rude to a gentleman on the next table slamming down his food. the portions have all been made smaller and prices have gone up , chips were anemic and raw in parts usually go there all the time but will never be going back tables are lower than the chairs came out with sore backs didn't have starter and left after our mains as we were so unhappy with the service and food

very impressed on this our first visit. The staff were very attentive and helpful. We were in a group of 14 , there was a bit of delay between the main and dessert courses but it didnt spoil anything. We had the pate for starters followed by the carvery. The choice of vegetables was amazing and the meal was lovely. very good value. The only thing i was disappointed with was the dessert i ordered the white choc cheesecake but it didnt taste as nice as it sounded on the menu, That was the only thing i could fault them on and we will definitely be going there again

We are regular visitors to The Old Shire Inn. We live in St Austell but travel to Camborne just for the Carvery. There is so much veg to choose from and 3 different meats. Surly this is enough for the average jo. And OMG the price well it cost me and my partner £20 for 2 roasts and a drink you can't knock that. Well looking forward to my Roast on Sunday. Thanks to all the Shire Staff for a great service.

booked a family birthday meal, but were not told we would have to sit in the old fashion dated carvery area,we did all choose to have the carvey my husband and i are veggi so asked what the alternative was usually a nut roast to be told you get a hot plate? puzzled we told you pick up anything but meat. The potatoes were pre frozen then deep fried not what i call proper roast!! the stuffing is a packet with water added then served as slush.i could go on, but would just to say the deserts are not as the menu discribes very disapointed and have written to them waiting reply.

After my Fathers Funeral we had aranged for a buffet in a segragated area of the Inn and drinks to be served at the bar on production of the order of service. On arrival at the Inn we were greeted by the very helpfull staff and shown into the conservertory where a very good selection of freshly prepared buffet food had just been laid out. This was of very good quality and the hot items (pastys, sausage rolls, etc)WERE hot.The drinks were very reasonably priced as was the charge per head for the food. The service of the staff was always atentive and polite. I have also eaten in the carvery twice this year and found it very good value and quality. I would recomend this place to anyone

at 6.15pm we asked the restaurant manager if there was a table for 5 people and a baby who was asleep and no trouble he said yes at 6.30pm restaurant not open have a drink we did they only had smoking areas being asthmatcic wasn't very pleased didn't want baby in smoke either thats why we went to pub/restuarant rather then normal pub and we were on holiday and wanted a nice place to eat, at 6.30pm we went to the restaurant for them to tell us after waiting 15 min's that there wasn't a table for a baby and not welcome in restuarant only the pub part but pay restaurant prices at £12. per head which wasn't a problem in the restaurant, we asked for a no smoking table to be told we could have one in the conservatory after struggling to walk over with my disabled father and a baby found that the tables were reserved & couldn't be used our only option was to sit & eat in the bar area with lots of people smoking obviously after being messed about we didn't stay to eat here their loss our family meal plus drinks would have normally come to over £100. however we found that clowence estate & country house at Praze-an-beeble up the road were more then happy to serve us and the meals there are the same price for a better establishment than a pub.
