A party of 12 , including a 21st Birthday girl, were given a lovely welcome and although it was 8.30pm, we were not rushed at all. The table was set out lovely and the menu was varied and catered for all tastes. Starters were beutiful and fresh, hot and served all at once. The mains were fantastic. I had a big fat steak (no suprise there), and it was the best I have had for a very long time and cooked to exact perfection. All the varied dishes were very generous and not a sound other than Mmmmm! was heard for the first few minutes of eating. Then it was all about the food. Portions were good too, not often that I leave a pub fit to burst. The satff were excellent and a great time was had. I will only return somewhere and make a recommendation if only I have a first class meal and evening. So guess whet, I will return and I do recommend that you try this excellent pub soonest. Enjoy.

After having the warmest of welcomes, we were shown to a table, given a menu and left to ponder over mouthwatering delights it offered. Staff & Boss alike were welcoming, friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. When the food arrived, WOW was the word, it was fresh, home cooked, pipping hot, smelt delicious and plentiful. I had Chicken, Ham & Leek Pie with home made chips & Peas, my partner had Chicken & Bacon in a mushroom sauce. AMAZING..... We never left a scrap, even though we couldn't move afterwards, was well worth it. Definitely recommend this lovely pub. I promise you won't be disappointed. Finally, COMPLIMENTS to the Chef, keep up the good work.

When I booked table for two, I asked were they aware of Gluten Free food. The gentleman I spoke to said it wouldnt be a problem, but I hear that from lots of people & when I get there my night is ruined! However.....not in this case!! Nothing was too much trouble, It was an everyday thing for them & at last I wasnt made to look like a weirdo! I had the most extensive choice I have possibly ever had & felt completely relaxed because the guy new what he was talking about. I wasnt ill the next or the day after.....so cant wait to go back again & feel totally spoilt!! Most restaurants think Gluten Free means I want the meal for free.....or....Im one those "fussy ones". Coeliacs you must try it for yourselves!

We were a party of 5 on a very busy night, we had to rearrange our booking for a bit later in the evening due to hold ups on the M6 ! However, we were accommodated with no bother. The service and food were excellent. Just one comment tho' it would be nice if the chips were home cooked and not the frozen type. We will surely return again, we had a great time.

i was very dissapointed. after hearing from a couple of people how lovely this place was,i went there for lunch today with my husband and 3 year old daughter. we found it to be very dark and old fashioned, i like traditional but bed pans hanging over me while eating would have been too much! we were shown to a table and while i took my daughter to the toilet my husband was told he had to move tables, there were only about 4 people in the place! this really annoyed him. they are not child friendly at all and turned their nose up when i asked if there were any childrens drinks or meals available (which there arent!!). we felt completely unwelcome! after finishing our drinks we left and will not be going back.

Has been our 'local' for past year now. Beer is always good with 4 real ales. Food is excellent and staff are helpful and attentive.
