visited The George as had heard food is good & was the first we had been there since refurbishment and change of hands. Lovely entrance, now at rear of property but a bit of a trek if you are disabled & not user friendly. Staff were very polite & welcoming so complaints there. We ordered our food after much deliberation, Specials Board had 2 options only, and no meals available with rice as an alternative. I appreciate it does take a while to cook fresh food & I think we should have been told how long to wait. My mother ordered Gammon but the pineapple salsa was dry. We mentioned this to the waitress who agreed shouldn't have been dry but she didn't do anything about this. I asked could she please mention this to Chef & she said she would but nothing came of this. My meal was the Bean Cassata service with bruscetta which was so hard you could have used to knock a nail into the wall ! Again mentioned to the waitress who told me thats the way it should but again didn't do anything about it. Our jug of water for the table arrive 10 minutes after our plates were cleared away but with no apology. We then had another long wait for our coffees ! All in all it was the little things that spoilt what could have been a good evening - these should be noted by the Proprietor/ Manager as its the little things that count & needless to say we will not be going back there

A delight full pub, slightly cold. Dissapointed in Christmas menu, not exactly traditional. Friendly delightful waitress service. Food left a lot to be desired, would not recommend or revisit. The food leaving the kitchen that we observed sitting on the side to get cold for an amazing 15 mins!!!!!!!!!!!! No thanks. Great pub, just needs a Chef

I visited the George Inn having been re commended by several friends that the place had been taken over at the begining of 2008 by Nick and Emily and that it was now a great place for excellent food. Nick was one of the Chefs there before it was taken over two years before so used to be part of the original team that had a great reputation. Now he is back so is the reputation.Emily runs the front of house making sure that everything is just as it should be. The food is top class, fresh meat and veg every day, cooked how it should be cooked, not this plastic rubbish that seems to be everywhere nowadays, the atmosphere and surroundings are pleasant and the staff are attentive and polite. The menu is varied and they have a specials board and also a two course menu so there is something for all. Well done Nick and Emily for bringing life back into The George Inn.
