I visited your store today with my parents to buy just a few bits as I usually do my big shop with my husband. I enquired on entry to the store about gift cards and where and how to purchase. I was told they are at the wine end of the store. I explained that I wanted one for my daughter at University in Scotland so she could top up her supplies and this way she would purchase food for herself rather than spending any money I sent her on clothes or going out. I browsed around the store and got a few items. I picked up a gift card and proceeded to the till. I packed my shopping and paid cash for my purchases at 14.35pm on 2286 0281787 3430. I asked the girl on the till if petrol vouchers were still being issued and she confirmed they were. My bill came to £53.34 - paid cash. No voucher came from the till. She could not understand this so called a supervisor - she explained what I had purchased and the supervisor asked what the top up was. She replied that this was a gift card but that normally a voucher is still forthcoming from the till. Supervisor not sure about any of it - asks us to visit customer service with her. Then told that as she had thought, no voucher because of gift card. My complaint is Why didnt check out staff know this Why didnt supervisor know this Why is this not made clear to customers as I would probably have done more shopping. Dealt with in a very negative manner - basically "hard luck" I suggested to the supervisor that maybe this should be brought up in staff training but by this time after dragging us up and down the store she was walking away from us without so much as an apology for the misunderstanding. Surely Tescos can do better than this. Left feeling embarassed for even querying the matter. Karen clark
