Fantatsic location, right on the beach, near a pub and chipshop, and clean toilets. but I have never met people like the owners there. The constant checking on you and the abruptness puts you on edge. Not the feeling you want for a relaxing break. Its a shame because in the right hands this site could be amazing it's sad the owners are unnecessarily rude.

I have stayed at this site twice before. The owners have always been rude and obnoxious but I've never really needed them for anything so just stayed out their way. The location is perfect which is the attraction. I recently rang to book again for two couples and was rudely informed I am not allowed to stay as I dont not have children with me. I totally understand the desire for a quiet family atmosphere and that is part of the attraction, but as I and my partner tried explaining to her, we are a couple in our 30s and 40s. We want quiet base for a weekend of walking. It was not the rule that upset me but her attitude and smugness. I was fuming by the time I got off the phone to her which is so out of character for me. I was just astonished by her rudeness and in my opinion, people like that don't deserve the trade. I know they have the right to refuse anyone but there are ways of speaking to people. Comon courtesy costs nothing.

I simply love this site, as do most folk. Since retiring due to ill-health I spend my summer's here, along with many other retired folk, one will even give free fish! Some have been critical of owner's attitude, but this is due to many people's abuse and vandalism, yet he is blunt but very fair, and these idiots are soon evicted. The problem with loud music he has combatted by using a silent buggy so they don't hear him coming, it is now mainly cured. The site ranger, John, is very friendly and will give weather forcasts and advice if asked, his wife, Jo, on the electric gate, is also helpful and pleasant. Site shop well stocked with food and useful bits. The view from the mountain above is superb, and from the site across the bay. There are many lovely bays within easy reach, two being voted the best in the country, and two just adjoining site, a map is a must. Walks all round coast are great. Toilets, showers, laundry room and washing-up rooms are clean and functional. If you are well-behaved you will also love this site, only fussy nit-pickers will not.

Was very impressed with the camp-site. I knew the location was good, but was very pleased with the facilities, which were clean and functioned correctly. The site itself was clean and the staff helpful and polite. Excellent base for fishing, walking and although the weather was excellent on our visit, the position would suggest good protection from South Westerlies should the weather turn. Restaurants close by and the local pub although nothing special did serve a decent pint of beer and a passable glass of wine.

I have visited this site nearly every year since 1987. It is situated in an idylic position,, especially the lower field where there is sea on two sides and cliffs behind, wonderful views. The facilities are efficient and clean. I have always appreciated that it stays the same with no attempt to introduce commercialisation and spoil the essential beauty and tranquility. It has always been great for my children whatever age they have been, as they can enjoy the naturalness of the sea, beech and surrounding walks. From my part I have always found Robert the manager helpful and obliging, quick to deal with any problems. I will always continue to go as it is truly getting away from things. Katherine Payne

have camped here for ever. Myself husband and five kids, now four granchildren. The site has everything you could need for a fantastic holiday. As for the attitude of owners i am not surprised, when you see the bad behaviour of the so called new campers. They turn up,brand new tent, all the latest gadgets and enough drink to supply the site. They unpack at 10.00am are p****d by 2.00pm their kids are then allowed to run riot untill they get their second wind about 11.00pm when they want to play music and party. Well done Rob and family see you next season.

We paid for a one night and didn't want to stop due to the noise of other insensitive campers. The 'rule sheet' you get given is is totally ignored by everyone and despite complaining, you just get an ignorant response, and we are still in discussions about a refund due to the owners breaking their own rules and allowing people to have loud radios on after 11pm. We arrived at 3pm and left at midnight, packing up our things in the dark. It isn't worth staying here.

I am now 33 and have been coming here with my girlfriends and friends for 13 years. I have travelled along the west coast of Wales and all of Cornwall and Devon and this is still by far my favourite campsite! Plenty of mown fields, right next to the sea with excellent sea views, 2 clean shower blocks, 2 pubs, restaurant, 2 chipshops, lovely beach, fishing and nice walks. The owners have always been friendly and helpful to me... The people that have problems with them are loud or people who believe in their own self importance, as the owners simply dont take no messing. Dont be offended by the fragile old man on the counter as he is harmless.

My family and friends have been visiting and staying at Carreglwyd for the best part of 20 years due to its idyllic charm and location. Over the years we have decided to ignore the ignorant attitude of the owners and just pay the fees in order to enjoy the beach and location. The owners and managers provide what can only be described as an absolutely obstructive attitude to your enjoyment so we have finally decided to boycott the site.

Nice site locatied next to a lovely clean beach. local shops ok but a bit expensive. Owners rude, arrogant and only interested in taking your money and not listening to your problems. Shoers ok but remember to take your own loo role. For some reason they have stopped providing this. Mostly interested in speeding around on a quad bike and issueing perthetic rules which no one seems to take seriousley. Dog friendly but owners full of there self importance and money making rather than providing good customer service. Obviouley they like to make a few quid but who doesnt these days. Wont going again would rather try same location but better site

The location was idilic, the beach clean and nearby facilities adequate. unfortunately our visit was ruined by the appalling and unprofessional service offered by the manager. He was rude, unapproachable and was obsessed by his petty rules that werent adhered to when others were noisey. we were concerned at the speed he felt nexessary to drive around in on his quad and we raised concerns for the children as the site is advertised as for families. As much as we enjoyed the location we would not return to the site again because of the site manager and we have taken the time to write this review to make others aware of the unprofessional and appalling service offered. the site was very expensive.

Carreglwyd is a nice site. The facilities are OK and it is worth a visit. However, watch out for the owners - very stange, extremely rude and unprofessional. Surprised that they manage to get (and keep)any custom - can only think it's the good location of the site!

Carreglwyd Camp Site is a lovely setting overlooking the sea. The sandy beach could not be nearer and the site has its own shop. There is a barrier system in operation controlling who enters and leaves, which felt quite comforting on a security level. It was clean and litter free with well kept grass. The staff were polite and businesslike. The site was full on the weekend we were visiting. The shower and toilet blocks were ok but very busy. Be prepared to queue for a shower! When we arrived we thought the campsite was full, but a couple of hours later it was even busier. It did feel a little crowded. Although the management try to ensure the site is quiet, unfortunately the time we were there it was very noisy with insensitive campers playing loud music. However, we will go back and stay at the site again because of the convenient and lovely setting, but we will probably avoid weekends in the future. As the site consisted of at least three separate fields one suggestion might be to have one field as a designated 'quiet field.' The site management do have a policy of restricting their campers to families and couples and in our experience the noisy campers did have children with them, so dividing the site up in this way may overcome this problem to some degree.

Impressed with the field and facilities. Unimpressed with the ownership, seemed more important to take your money, give you a list of rules which the Majority of campers didn't adhere to, no security at night, expensive for what you received.
