I too am surprised at the negative review of this site as we thought it was one of the nicest sites we had ever stayed on. We found everyone to be friendly and helpful and very much hope to return this year.

As an owner of a static on this site I find the other review to be a complete load of twaddle. This site has won numerous awards and the site wardens are fantastic. The pitches for tourers are situated amongst the static vans and are nowhere near the road (the site itself is separated from the road by a loch!) The site is very peaceful and van owners are welcomed by the numerous ducks, swans rabbits and squirrels that live on site. Aboyne Loch has been voted as bein environmentally aware by David Bellamy. Personally I doubt if you could find a nicer site anywhere and would urge everyone to give it a try.

I am totally shocked and appalled by the negative review left regarding this site. I have visited Aboyne Loch for many years and have always found it to be a very pleasant, quiet and attractive site. Your reviewer failed to mention that the date they chose to stay was the night of the local HIghland Games and all pitches are booked up several months in advance - I think he should have been delighted that space was found for him on such a busy night. Aboyne Loch is a beautiful site ina wonderful location. There is no road noise as the pitches are separated from the road by the loch. It is wonderful to see baby ducks roam about the site. I knwo the site has a reputation for being warm and wlcoming an I would recommend it to anyone.

-ve, poor.... Having recently bought a 41yr old VW campervan my husband and I have been getting around the beautiful countryside of Royal Deeside,Aberdeenshire, in which we live. As a last minute decision we organised to stay at the Aboyne loch caravan site as a mid week escape for one night. Looking forward to a view of the lake and boat facilities we arrived to be greated by a Jackle and Hide character, who happily took our money and pointed us to a more than poor pitch, looking onto nothing but a static caravan. It was later explained that this was were the 3 campervan / mobile home pitche are loacted (next to the site and the main road (60mph). The motor home pitches were all located on a hill / slope. On identifying a far better spot away from the road and entrance we approached the now jackle who got annoyed at the suggestion our allocated spot was inadequate and who then kept us waiting 30 minutes before deciding she didnt need our business and returning our money.... Luckily we live in the area and know of plenty of free park ups with lovely views so we were not too troubled at being asked to leave.... However should this happen to you it was at 7.30 in the evening with no other local campsites available!!! This campsite has a very poor attitude towards tourers and campers and appears to live quite happily of the very many statics on the site - I would not recommend this site.
