The food in this pub is extremely poor value, given the prices they charge which are over the top. The food was of poor quality and cold. Our complaint was not received well as the staff became defensive and aggressive.

My husband and I have visisted this pub many times over a period of 12 years or so and several owners. We have found it consistently good - though perhaps at its best now, in 2007. The food is good and the service friendly. Our friend, with whom we visit the George,is disabled and nothing is toomuch trouble for the couple who own the pub. In fact we like the place so much that we intend takingmy parents (who live in Berks) there next week (2 May). We live in Brighton.

My wife and myself went to the george for sunday lunch in their garden. The roast beef my wife ordered was awful she returned it as she could not eat it apologies were given and another roast was served it to was the same as before. there were three dogs roaming the garden which i believe belong to the pub 2 black labs and a westie. all three dogs did there bussiness on the lawn alongside the tables we were trying to eat at i find this most unaceptable also the westie was jumping up onto empty tables clearing food off of plates that were left on tables. I hate complaining but this has put us off from going there again unless there are drastic changes Tony Furr

This is a great pub, with great food too. The bar staff are particulary friendly, and they have just put Erdinger on tap - which is all the more reason to visit!! I could talk about the large parking area, and the view of the downs from the garden, but the Erdinger is more important.
