We visited the Tiger Inn, East Dean on a busy Bank Holiday Sunday. It's been recently renovated following the departure of the previous cash only manager who was not well liked. The bar is just the same, eating area is brighter and new toilets are verging on luxury! The new management have done a fine job. Main courses were good - large sunday roasts - good quality beef, salad and bacon for some or vegetarian for others. Beers, especially the Harvey's went down well, and there was a good selection of wine. Deserts were good - attractively laid out, delicious Trio of Chocolate particularly. The Hazlenut shortbread was plain - the hazlenuts seeming to have escaped altogether. Only a banging door to the garden and the rather slow service as the pub and village green were heaving, are our only criticisms. The service was good and everyone kept their cool. Final bill including drinks was about £18 for two courses each so pretty good value. We'll be back.

All has changed at the Tiger Inn. now under the direct contol of the owners, they have refurbished in traditional style and appointed a fantastic couple in Jo and Stuart to run this wonderful pub. The atmosphere is terrific, the food is great and the excellent beer includes Harvey's and the estate's own beer Beachy Head Original and Legless Rambler. No juke box on fruit machines just great conversation with a friendly team.

A change of management recently has changed what was one of THE best pubs in Sussex to one of the worst. Avoid it at all costs.
