We made a return visit to the Rose and Crown. Standards as usual first class. Leonie and Sally made us more than welcome once again. Good food, good beer/wine and great atmosphere. We stayed an extra night! What a place to spend an Anniversary. Thanks team. We will be back sometime next year. Regards.

Visited on a Saturday night and didn't receive the warmest of welcomes. Took a while for our order to be taken & it definately was not worth the wait. My deep fried brie had a very tough 'crust' & a fondue consistancy inside. The lamb was so tough & the surface of the each piece, in the small portion I received, was hard & dried as if it had been grilled. The staff never once checked during clients meals if 'everything was ok'. When the waitress came to collect our plates I told her it was inedible. She came back later and said she spoke to the chef who said 'thats how it is when well done'! I explained it seemed to have been grilled, to which she replied 'not my problem I only relay messages'! My husband left most of his main course also & no observation was made by the server who collected his plate! Lacking in people skills & definate attitude problem & a big waste of a Saturday night for us.

Called in on an evening when things were quiet and we were met with a real attititude problem. We only wanted a meal on our way home and it was a real problem just to get a drink. Left within a short while and went the next village at North Curry where we were made really welcome...avoid, avoid

The Rose and Crown was a delight to stumble across, a pub actually serving real food not the frozen variety. I had haddock in beer batter & chips with mushy peas all fresh and cooked in beef dripping just like the old days. My wife had the steak and kidney pie cooked in red wine again all home-made with fresh seasonal veggies. The desserts were equally as impressive award winning sticky toffee pudding, (if it hasn't it should) with hazelnut ice-cream next baked lemon & lime tart with clotted cream & raspberry coulis, really zangy. I better mention about the size of the portions well put it this way you won't leave hungry. I enjoy a real ale and they had 3 to choose from Exmoor ale, Otter ale & Buttcombe blonde a pint of Exmoor for me, "superb". The staff were really helpful & friendly. We were lucky enough to have good weather so we ate outside on the terrace which is well sheltered, I could imagine a portly cigar smoker sitting out there enjoying his Cuban treat. All in all a great little pub we will be back soon.

We were so glad to have made a table reservation at this very cosy and friendly village pub, it was a busy Saturday night full of diners enjoying their meals. Our meal was absolutely delicious, very generous portions of good, wholesome and homecooked food. The guest ales to choose from complimented our food wonderfully and the service was very efficient. We would recommend this pub to all food enthusiasts and drinkers alike. Keep up the good work!

On my first visit to Somerset, I was invited to attend a function held at the Rose & Crown. The pub was delightful with a wonderful atmosphere and friendly, helpful staff. We had the game pie, which was absolutely superb. Also, after declining the option of bread & butter pudding from our function's set menu, I was offered an alternative which was equally delicious. The Rose & Crown is one of the best pubs I've visited and I will gladly return again in the future.

On holiday in Somerset, and received a word of mouth recommendation to book a dinner table at the Rose and Crown. As vegetarians we were encouraged to see that there were a few items on the menu from which to choose. However, as soon as the main courses arrived, we realised that the chef was clearly not well-versed in vegetarian cuisine! One main dish was a whole Camembert deep fried in breadcrumbs on a limp salad bed. When we asked to change it as it was just completely melted and more suited to fondue, we were told that we would still be required to pay for it. The other main dish was a vegetable stroganoff - very bland and uninspiring and with raw onion and carrot pieces. This too we found to be unacceptable and so asked if we could just pay for our drinks and leave. At this we were taken to the kitchen door to make our comments directly to the chef. We had barely spoken one sentence about not finding the food to our taste when the chef began an aggressive and abusive tirade, swearing at us and ordering us to leave immediately. Suffice to say, we won't be returning to the Rose and Crown.
