The royal oak is a lovely cosy country pub in a pretty village. We went there because they are listed as being dog friendly but we have never been anywhere that makes you and your dog so welcome (biscuits and an after meal carrot and liver treat - thats the dog - we just had cheese and biscuits!!)
The food was wonderful and the owners really friendly.
We will go there again soon and we live 100 miles away!!

Wish we had read the other review before we went! We had the same experience! Steak was very overcooked (asked for medium so expected it pink)slab of brie on top with bacon covering it (perhaps so you couldn't see how bad the steak was cooked!)bit of salad slapped on the side of the plate with coleslaw and chips that were obviously frozen bagged ones! As we were very hungry we started to eat and were not asked if everything was ok until we had nearly finished and lost the will to live! We did tell the waitress and also the manager when we paid and he did apologise but a total waste of money!

Very ordinary pub menu, very overpriced.
Very ordinary food served with very ordinary service. Chips were dull, salad, unimaginative, coleslaw very average, condiments missing and not offered.
£14.95 for a very mediocre steak with a little Brie and Bacon.
£4.95 for a small dish of very ordinary olives and white bread with frozen butter to start.
A great place to miss!
