We arrived right in the middle of lunch service and the place was dead. There was a group of four on a table next to ours. They had driven off the A1 on the off chance. They asked the waitress if the place was a good business and she told them that they nearly had to close just after Christmas. She had the same conversation with the other table of people dining there. Great advertising staff you have.
Still on to the food. We both had the baked egg which was very good. I had the chicken in a cream sauce and my wife had the fish and chips. We asked before ordering if they had left the skins on the chips, the waitress told us that they hadn't. When the meals arrived they were both very good, chips a little under cooked I thought but at least they were peeled. Must had taken notice of Mr Cain's comments at the bottom of the page. He had some very valid points. Then we has desserts. I had the chocolate with cherrys and fresh cream and my wife had the ice creams. My wife thought that her's was over priced and my fresh cream had a nice thick yellow skin on the top. Over all, a good meal reasonably priced. Come 2.00pm though you feel that it is time to leave.

Chips with skins on are purposefully chosen depending on the type of potatoe!
Always very good food and service.
Nice Black Sheep beer too.
Restaurant or bar menu, either is smashing.

Today we had lunch at the Robin Hood. The waitress brought us some bread to go with the meal. Most of it was fresh apart from one piece which appeared to be toasted? I ordered the salmon fish cake, it came out of the fryer a very dark brown, certainly got what it went in for. With the main course we were served chips to go with our steak. They came with the skins on and were under cooked. When restaurants start cutting corners by not peeling veg it is a sure sign of a decline in standards. The Robin Hood used to be a flag ship of good food but now it justs appears to be following the
herd, chips with the skins on. Idleness!
We recommended the Robin Hood to freinds yesterday and even said how great the home made chips were, but now I will have to retract my recommendation. We have been going to the Robin Hood for over ten years and can somebody please tell me why they have this blip of cooking chips with their skins on when the majority of the menu is excellent?
