First of all, I suspect the review by Dan Jury to be false, there is another famous review site - hint -"advisor to trips" where a DanTheMan has been accused of the same thing as he is extremely defensive of the establishment and one contributor has even questioned wether or not he is an employee there? Anyway, to my review. I recently went here for Sunday lunch with friends and family. There were seven of us in total, 4 adults and 3 kids. We were shown to a separate room where we had to assist the waitress in pulling tables together. We were not offered a menu or the option of starters but were advised that only roasts were available and only beef or pork. We subsequently ordered our 4 adult and 3 kids portions, 2 pints of lager, 5 cokes. The food arrived promptly but at £9 per head we were very disappointed with the small portions. The vegetables were offered on a communal plate to share, which isn't unusual, however, it worked out that we got half a carrot each, 3 potatoes, a small spoonful of cabbage and a small sprig of broccoli each. The food was just ok - certainly not good and at the price of £73 (4 adults, 3 kids, one course only) we considered far too expensive and lacking for that price. We werent given a bill itemising what we had paid for and would certainly not recommend others to dine here. There are many far better places to eat in the surrounding area offering much better value for money.

This Inn was recommended by a woman who lives not far away due to her own BB being unable to accommodate us with a double room, one single left, we were at first delighted to be able to get a room and a evening meal as we had been travelling a long time, the food was ok and the staff we came across were very polite but I can't say that for the manager a Mr Richard Gander, he was both ignorant and arrogant towards me after I complained about the poor quality of their bed that we had to try to sleep on, it was very flat with no give at all in the mattress, it felt like we were lay directly on the divan base, which was like lying on a bumpy board, his comment was one of, I have had many people use this room with no complaint, so with that he informed me that as far as he was concerned there was nothing wrong with the bed, and would not be giving me any form of refund, and promptly hung up, although I did manage to get the owners name and address for me to write and complain to, but I don't expect any help here either if the manager is anything to go by. I am just getting my letter to write for posting and will let you know how I get on, so at this time I leave my rating of: -10 This is because with the way he was with me was NOT customer friendly; it has so far over ridden any good parts. Manager Mr Richard Gander Owner Mr Phil Farmer
