I would like to reply to the very rude people who left a review about m&s basildon. Before you jump to conclusions about the staff who work there do you not think you should stop to think how hard they have to work to keep high maitenence people like you happy. The small store was not equipped to deal with such a high volume of people which is why you may have to wait longer for the hot food because they only have one oven, if you dont want to wait you dont have to, and if the prices are too excessive for you why do you pay them? Again, you aren't forced to pay them, why are you complaining about that? It is obvious the people who have complained about the coffee shop have never worked in retail and don't understand how hard it is, especially in hospitality. They are shorted staffed and the girls sometimes do a job that was intended for three people. Im sick and tired of people complaining about the coffee shop because those girls work god damn hard in there with such little resources and lack of support.

It is obvious that since the Food Hall was enlarged that there are not enough staff to deal with the amount of shoppers, especially at the weekend. Long queues of disgruntled shoppers and a complete lack of staff in ALL departments has made Marks and Spencer in Basildon a place to avoid whenever possible. Whatever happened to the high quality customer service of which M & S used to be so rightly proud?

My daughter and I visited the restaurant for a cup of tea and a toasted teacake. There are so many staff behind the counter but they are just completely disorganised! It takes so long to just get a cup of tea and when I was told the teacake would take fifteen minutes I was disgusted and refused it. We are only talking about toasting a teacake not a meal! We have been to this restaurant many times and each time it's the same and with tables all over the place uncleared. They need some staff who know what they are doing instead of rushing around like "headless chickens". My Daughter and I won't be visiting this Restaurant again!

FOR THE ATTENTION OF MANAGER, CAFE REVIEW My daughter and I had lunch in your cafe on Saturday Lunch-time and were pretty disgusted with the service. I might add that this isn't our first visit. After collecting their trays and filling it, they have to lift above their heads where the display is situated. How ridiculous is this? The tables were full of used crockery etc. so people couldn't find a clear table and the way the serving staff work is unbelievable. They haven't got a clue what they are doing which means everyone is is a long queue waiting to be served. To top it all your prices are way too expensive: 1 toasted sandwich, one seafood sandwich, a small cup of coffee and a fruit juice in a carton for £9.60. I think you badly need to get your "house in order" Yours sincerely Maureen Painter (Mrs)
