We choose the Red Lion in Chalton as our place to see in the new year and found the venue charming as usual. With a good selection of ales to assist us, much merriment was made and it was nice to hear the happy voices and laughter without having to shout over the music. A full rendition of Old Lang Syne later and 2008 was well and truely started. Unlike the ales the numbers thinned until to the enevatable 2 o'clock kicking out time. One dampener on the otherwise good spirited evening was a rather overzealous performance by the manager in man handling a publican into the street. Still one bad apple amid the otherwise lovely staff doesn't take away from the welcoming and cosy confines this country pub.

Had a meal at the Red Lion Chalton on sunday.I felt the need to give praise for the wonderful food and service we experienced. We all had sunday roast which was perfection.Local vegetables were superb, dessert with New forest icecream a delight. Service was friendly and efficient. A lovely experience in this world thats usually full of overpriced, prepacked, fatty, microwaved fast food. Looking forward to my next visit. Thankyou
