Basically this is a pub that's had dining tables shoe horned into it. It looks crammed and unsophisticated and does not justify the gastro pub label the owner has given it. Food may be good compared to the poor competition but it's random and old fashioned. But the real let down is the sarcasm the owners dish out to anyone that dares leave a less than positive review. He complains about TA at the same time as using it to slag his customers off.

Hi Emma phillips. I am sorry you did not enjoy your meal at the Queens Head we serve around 1000 meals per week and 99.9% of our customers leave happy, that I judge by tips and leaving comments and being fully booked most of the time. and never resting on your laurels. If you had a problem I would have appreciated you asking for myself or a manager to express your comments in house, we work very hard to remain one of the finest pub/restaurants in the area and face to face feedback and constructive criticism is welcome at any time. After 17 years I have learnt that you will never please all of the people all of the time. Thank you for your past custom.

I had driven past this pub on a few occasions, so took my partner and a couple of friends there for dinner. The greeting we recieved was an early indication of the total disregard for polite service that we experienced throughout the meal. We initially thought this may be a dry sense of humour, but it was soon clear that it was just poor manners. We took our seats and proceeded to order. We were hopeful that the food may go some way to forgiving the frosty service, but again we were dissapointed. The fish dish was very greacy and full of bones, not to mention cold. My friend had the lamb dish which was chewy and lacking in appropriate seasoning. At the end of the meal, we were tempted to offer some constructive feedback, but though better of it by the scowl on the waitresses face. I don't think we will be returning again.

I wasn't impressed with my experience of this pub. The service left a lot to be desired, and the foot wasn't very special. I will not be returning

What a terrible experience at this place. Really rude landlord who can not take any feedback. Food was average but atmosphere totally ruined. They need to learn how to do customer service and probably best to take an anger management course.

Herd good reports on the Queens Head and i can now see why, there was 4 of us and the place was humming with a great atmoshere we had straters and main my husband had the famous longford lamb!! well i have never seen anything like it it would have fed a family of 4!! The food here has got to be the best around but you will always get a few complaints as you cant please all the people all the time. If the people commented on how good the food is here this web site would be full. I can reccomend and we will certainley be going back soon, very soon i hope.

What an unbelievable experience I have just had at the Queens Head – Unbelievably BAD may I add. Having just been to this pub for Sunday lunch, we booked easily, and were welcomed as we arrived. We all had the roast, which was quite tasty. This was looking like a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon for all. How things can so easily go wrong…. I visited the gents after the meal, and noticed a very scrappy printed piece of paper hanging on the wall containing about 7 or 8 jokes. I read this and to my astonishment these jokes were very inappropriate. One of them was clearly racist, and others of a sexist nature. I admit that a lot of people may not be offended by these, but some people would certainly be… myself included. I assumed that no establishment could ever have put these up themselves, so assumed it must have been another customer. I took it down and politely mentioned to the waitress that I didn’t think this was very appropriate, and that a customer must have put it up as a joke. She explained that the landlord was actually responsible for publishing this material, which was a total shock to me. I gave the paper to the waitress and returned to my table. A couple of minutes later, the overly aggressive landlord arrived at my table and unleashed a very aggressive tirade towards me and my party. He claimed it was his pub and he can put up what he wanted. Never once did he even ask what my motives were or ask what was so offensive. He continued that if I didn’t like it, I can get out of his pub. He continued to shout that these jokes had been published for 2 months, and nobody else had complained (which I find amazing to believe) My party and I sat there in a state of shock. Firstly amazed that someone in the service industry would be so openly racist in his apparently amusing material. Secondly, that he would be so aggressive and argumentative with his customers. Afterwards, a number of other customers in the pub approached me seemingly sharing my shock at the landlords attitude. How this place is still in business I have no idea. If he treats everyone like that I have no doubt he will insult everyone who enters his door. I will never return to this pub, and would advise anyone else to seek an alternative. People like this create a negative atmosphere, and don’t deserve to be in business.

I went there for a meal, my wife was feeling too good and only wanted soup. The waitress said that you could not only order soup, it must be a full meal. She was extremely rude, we talked to the owner? who said it was alright, but we were sent another waitress who was also extremely rude and short when taking the order. I have never known anything like this before. If there is a MINIMUM then it should be stated in writing in the open not thrown at you. the meal was good, but I find that if you were a sardine you would have found the room large enough. there are far too many tables for the dining room.

Visited the place for a family birthday, was given a table too small for our party but managed to aquire a bigger table.Food was ok apart from the steak which was inedible and couldn't even be cut with a steak knife.Asked for it to be dealt with and was treated like a leper by the landlady, who insisted that there was nothing wrong with it.Such arrogance and rudeness was totally uncalled for. Will never eat there again.Don't try complaining unless you've got a thick skin!! Mary Portas would knock them into shape.

Didn't actually eat there and this is why- this was supposed to be a family get-to-gether for my sister's 60 birthday. Her and her husband specifically visited the pub to book and choose the table. The table offered was unsuitable and so another one was offered that was suitable which was duly booked. My sister was asked to ring a few days before the dinner to confirm numbers, which she did ( one person less)and checked that the same table would be ours, she was assured it would be. When we arrived at the pub we were given the table first offered and when we queried this the land lady was rude; when we asked what happened to customer service, she said and I quote...'if that's your attitude'. My brother-in law emailed her to say how upset and disappointed we were and this is an extra of her supply:- "Sorry to hear that you will not be visiting us again but I cannot recall seeing your face in the last sixteen years so we will have to struggle on without your future custom. You cannot please all of the people all of the time but most of the time we please 99% of our customers, that is why we are fully booked every night of the week. Hope you found somewhere else to celebrate your birthday and the food was as good as the Queens Head". Well we did find somewhere just as nice and were served by people who did know about customer service - The Greyhound, just a mile away in Longlevens, so go there instead.

Would like to have visited this pub, but unfortunately they don't allow children, not even on mother's day! This doesn't seem like a very friendly or acceptable attitude in a modern family friendly society.

A1. Thats the only way to describe this place. Thursday evening and the place was buzzing with a great atmoshere and great food. I had the fresh sea bass with scallops and my wife had apricot nut roast both dishes great. we then followed by having the home made lemon meringue pie I must say it was one of the best if not the best we have ever tasted. This place is well worth a visit but pre-book as it does get very busy.

We have just had a very enjoyable meal, service was good and so was the meal our only critism was that the ice-cream we had was quite unpleasant and totally tasteless, when mentioned to staff we were given no real response and no feedback was given.....

Food ok but very expensive. We didn't get enough veg and asked the staff for some more. The landlord approached our table and was very rude to us indeed. I would never ever go here again as the service was terrible and the price awful.

The Queens Head was recommended by a friend and we went there tonight for the first time. We weren't disappointed. Despite not having a reservation we were warmly greeted and given a table. There was a good choice on the menu, the food was lovely and the service friendly. We will definitely be going back, particularly as there were no unruly or screaming children there.

If you happen to have a meal you are not sattisfied with, do not dare crtisize, the owner will not appreciate your opininon. Twelve people were eating and in general it was very good. They were very busy and service was slow. One of the meals was a pie tht had a burnt dry pastry and the meat was tough. When commenting on this I was told I was wrong. This attitude and the way I was spoken to took the edge off a little of what was essentially a good evening.

The best steak I ever had was at this pub.I can now add to that, the best Belly Pork. I have recommended The Queens head to friends who were delighted with the quality, variety and affordability of the food. The service was attentive yet unobtrusive. The atmosphere was inviting and over all it was a very relaxed and pleasant evening.Value for money the Queens Head will take some beating.

Visit regularly and food is consistently excellent with many interesting choices. Last night's meal was superb, the best I have had in a long time and had to indulge in 3 courses it was that good! Excellent choice of beer too, all in a cosy, friendly atmosphere. Long may it last!

This was a return visit as the first one was so fantastic! The food is brilliantly and freshly cooked, lots of local produce is sourced- which gets a big thumbs up from me! The menu is vast and a bit bewildering, with a good choice of changing specials too. Prices are great value for money for the quality and quantity, and it has been very busy and buzzy both times we visited. Local real ales are also served which are delicious too!

As always, a fabulous meal from one of the few, non-franchised establishments in the area. The menu is varied, reasonably priced and brilliantly cooked and served. The bar is a CAMRA lovers delight! Thanks again for a special evening
