My son held his wedding reception at this wonderful idealic pub. We travelled 369 miles for the wedding and so were unsure as to what to expect, due to mixed reviews and not being local.I need not have worried. The pub itself is wonderful and the owners did all they could to make my sons day very special. The food was fabulous and the staff were friendly. I will definately be back next year for the apple crumble! From my experience I would definately recommend this pub.

We entered a virtually empty pub ... 3 other couples spread through 6 rooms. I stood at the (deserted) bar for some 5 minutes until a member of staff deigned to serve us. She had in fact passed through the bar twice beforehand ... on neither occasion did I receive even a cursory glance or a "be with you in a minute". As it was 2.30pm, my wife said "I suppose you have stopped serving food" and received a very curt "Yes". On their website they make a point of mentioning that they sold cream teas and bar snacks between 2.30pm and 10.00pm ... these were not offered so we settled for a round of drinks. The beer eventually cleared, enabling my wife to see that she had a smeary glass. I had gone to the Gents where I had to navigate between the puddles ??? This is the nearest pub to where three of us are staying for three weeks. Given that we would probably have dined there several times a week and probably would have called in for lunch and a few drinks on other occasions. at an average of £60 per evening and £40 per lunch, I estimate that they have lost somewhere around £600 of our custom (plus that of everyone who we will be advising to avoid the place).
