What a loss to the village! My thoughts go to the family who ran this great family run village local for many years! I hope they are doing ok we only hear about the the loss of pub but not the loss of a family livelihood ! ! Speen you should be ashamed of your loss! Returning from US to find this tragic loss!

Happy to update previous review when experience was not good - had an exemplary sunday roast at the KW4 this week. Carvery was not open but there was a choice of turkey or pork (both with very good yorkshires!) which arrived plated but with an excellent variety of roast and other vegetables, stuffing and plenty of gravy. Very large portions of the meat and all served with a lovely smile by the young waitress! Based on this experience we will be going back again and again as this would rate a 10/10 for taste and value.

Such a shame... What could have been a lovely Sunday lunch ruined by having to wait till 1pm for the carvery roasts to be brought out (despite the website claiming lunch is served from 12pm) and to find the owner thinks his patrons are such greedy pigs that the meals are served up on child portion plates! Given that the allocated 3 slices of roast are served by the chef, this can only be to limit the amount of veggies customers can help themselves to - how expensive can that be? Surely not worth the irritation and disgust I felt and heard from other diners, who also won't be returning. Pity, because the food was well-cooked and tasty...

We Went last night with a group of friends to this great village pub. They had a band and BBQ on. The food and band were really good. Great pint of beer and pimmis on tap! The rumour is that the pub is about to close which would be a great shame the chefs on the BBQ worked hard and the bar staff kept up with the demand. I chatted to lots of people at the bar and very few were locals, I was shocked by this,if it is going to close its down to there obvious lack of support, we lost our pub and lost the heart to the viillage. WAKE UP SPEEN before its to late. This was only a rumour! we will be going back so that it doesn't happen and be come another closed pub! we grabed a copy of the menu looks too.

Being a coeliac i was pleased to hear that the king william pub in speen did dishes suitable for me. I find it very hard to go out for a nice meal without bothering the waitresses about gluten free meals and then being served a dry salad or piece of meat. The king william pub exceeded all expectations. I had the soup with gluten free bread for a starter and then beer battered cod as my main, delicious! I have been several times since and have enjoyed every single time. My family, who are not coeliac, are very impressed and would reccommend it to anyone

Having had a gluten free diet for the past five years, I am use to sticking to the plain basic food no sauce etc... mention Coeliac and you get a blank look, this was my first visit to the king william IV in speen,as I picked up the menu my friend told the young girl that I was a coeliac I waited for the blank look she smiled said no problem I ask the chef to come out and see you,(here we go plain food no sauce) when the chef came out he said I can have anything on the menu(my first impression was that he didn’t understand my diet so I said if I wanted the battered cod how are you going to it he smiled and said I will make it with a gram flour batter, great but what if I wanted the chicken & ham pie he smiled again well I would make you a creamy volute sauce & pastry top using rice/potato flour, this was great my friends were all quite jealous of my person chef treatment the meal was fantasticcccccccccc. its not often you go out and feel your are (normal)again in fact most places treat you as sub-normal oh in case your wondering I had the chicken & ham pie..... Sue.

Having lived in the village for most of my life, I was pleased and yet sceptical at the arrival of yet another new owner, I should not have worried for a moment, David and his team have provided a home from home in the heart of our village, from the moment you walk in to the moment you leave you are immersed in a warm and friendly atmoshphere, it just feels right, the choice at the bar is well thought out with featured beers of the week as well as a reasonable wine selection, and the food is excellent, good wholesome fare with a modern twist, and if thats not perfect enough families are activley encouraged, what else could we possibly want.

Paid a visit to this newly refurbished establishement, and was very pleasantly surprised. There is still some work in progress to finalise the building, but that did not detract from a very pleasant location and excellent service. The choice on the menu for a lunchtime was outstanding, and VERY plentiful, not your usual omelette and chips or pie and chips, or chips with everything. There is a slight gourment twist to the food, but not a la Gordon Ramsey where its miniscule portions, on the contrary. The choice of ales was very varied, and again, not your usual Hofmeister/Carlsberg, but some interesting Czech lagers, and local brewery ales. All in all, a very pleasant place for a meal and a drink, with 2 large inglenook fireplaces for the winter evenings. Thoroughly recommend this establishment.

Absolutley brilliant! To date nly open for roughly 6 weeks. Went with the family for lunch. Had the Goat's Cheese Tart with Rhubard and Ginger Chutney to start and the house King Willy burger. Both were equally lovely. Great taste and presentation. Reasonably priced menu's. Situated in the village of Speen, Bucks the outside of the building has a traditional charming feeling from the outside and a warm, modern feel inside with exposed oak beams and 2 fire places. Perfect for couples and families alike. There is also a childrens play area right next to the pub and plenty of space if you want to kick a ball around with the kids. The front of house were welcoming and the chef was very accomodating as I have a 1 yr old and he made a dish especially suited to him. He came out of the kitchen to see us and ask what we would like for our son. He sent out a fab picking dish of cherry tomatoes, cheese, chips and other little bits as thats all kids want at this age! All in all a huge thumbs up. Thank You King William IV!
