Beautiful site, near the railway to Deal-London and near the port of Dover. An oasis of peace after the motorway! It's full of rubbit, and you can arrive late and stay in the dedicated site (late arrivals). The best services to wash pottery or clothes or...myself! I go all years to Martin Mill! Only two problems: the street is very narrow and the pub closed in 2010 (it was changed in flats...)!

I am not a regular camper but as part of a team of Channel Swimmers needed a base close to Dover for a 3am start. Hawthorn Park gave us this and everything else we needed, a friendly staff, good amenities and a fantastic night sky to sit out under and conteplate the swim to come. We had a successful swim and a great stay, with the owner of the site donating to our Charity, Aspire. Thanks and hope to see you if we are ever mad enough to try the Channel again.

What a lovely place, loads of space for the kids to run around. Toilets and showers were lovely and clean, and great sinks to do your washing up. we will be back again.

The campsite itself is huge, and if you're in a tent then you get to choose your own pitch (a huge bonus if it's quiet, not so great if it's not). The bathrooms are clean enough, although only 6 showers seems too few at peak times. There is a shop onsite, which also does breakfast and lunch and a nice pub close by which also does food, however that's it so it's a very quiet place. Deal (with a pebble beach) is a 10 minute drive away (or 7 minutes on train) and is lovely, plenty of pubs and restaurants to choose from there. The location of the campsite if good, is very easy to get to Sandwich, Deal and Dover. If you're looking for a very quiet place, then this is great, if you're looking for something a bit more lively, I'd suggest Sandwich just up the road.
