I wish I’d found this review site before we stayed at this campsite. Not impressed. If you are thinking of staying here PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE DON'T. New toilets and shower block in the shed! Not finished and looks as if it was thrown together. Found the toilets by the entrance full of junk and out of order so could not be used when at the swimming pool. Pool was cold, dirty and the plastic is coming away round the edge, very dangerous, got to be a Health and Safety issue. Had to stop my 2 using it, very disappointed. No Laundry facilities, closed. Neighbour on the site said the owner had a fight with the laundry company who have now taken back the equipment. The owner was rarely about and the shop was closed all the time, probably the reason the phone was not answered when we tried to call in advance. The owner is obviously not bothered about the lack of and state of the facilities or the site. Needless to say we cut short our stay and moved to a better campsite. The only good thing was the view and the beautiful surroundings. However, things are starting to look a very tired, and run down; the pool could definitely do with some attention. Pitch fee high for what you get. My advice, when you see the sign ‘Penhaven Touring Park’, DON’T STOP, DRIVE ON!!!

While looking for a campsite for the week we drove onto this site and made the mistake of letting our seven year old son use the loo. The owner called us thieves and became insulting and threatening. When my wife got out to fetch our son from the loo he climbed into the car and challenged me to a fight! I am still thinking of reporting this guy to the police and am certainly going to report him to the Tourist Board. He obviously hates tourists and should be doing something else. It explains why the site was half empty when everywhere else was full.

We stayed at this campsite for 2 nights. It's a nice level campsite but the manager is not able to run this site on his own successfully. We thought it was over priced at £28 a night for 2 people in a camper. The facilities were never cleaned during our stay. We thought we could of made a better job of building the new shower and toilet block. The toilets were situated inside the shower rooms so if the showers were all occupied you couldn't use them. The shop was never open at all whilst we were on the site. On the good side the showers were always hot. And the beech was only a fairly short walk away. Needles to say we wouldn't recommend using this site.

we visited this site with 2 large tents with our friends and their grandson for a 4 night stay. as the other reviews state, the owner can be difficult to track down..hes usually on his mower! and the shop was never open , but we had 2 good large pitches on the flat. The campsite does have a local shop across ther oad and Asda is 5mins drive away! You can walk along the riverpath to Pentwyn Sands, wonderful beach, a good 15 mins walk but all on the level. The showers were okay and I think that this year theres a new shower block opening. The only downside for us was that there were some noisy people there but you take your chance on that wherever you go. all in all, good value for money, no club etc., but it is what you make it!

I too have stayed at this campsite back in the summer 2006 and found the site to be in a fantastic location. Unfortunately the owner is unable to manage the site successfully, The toilets and showers need renovating, the shop is nearly always shut, in fact i met a camper who had tried 4 times one morning to get in the shop as the owner who also runs the shop kept disapearing. The prices of this site too are crazy, (£20 night peak season) in fact the owner even tried to charge our friends double for one night , even after we had phoned him beforehand and he said come down it will be fine. Our friends only wanted to stay for one night. Our friends had travelled a long way to join us but after the owner had tried to charge double for one night they decided to try somewhere else. They went over to Sun Valley campsite - what a wonderful contrast and a lovely friendly site with great facilities. The owner was also very rude and threatened to make us leave when he was challenged over what he had said to us during our phone booking. We definately wont be staying here again.
