Visted Eureka today 31.08.06 with 3 children, two 9 year olds and one 5 year old. Boy was it busy, I feel on a much quieter day it would have been much better. We arrived at 1:15 pm and queued for about 45 mins to get in, the queue was nearly at the railway station when we arrived! The staff were a bit overwhelmed with the volume of people but having travelled all the way from Middlesbrough we were not about to turn around and go home. The interative talking exhibits (especially the Alan Titchmarch ones) were inaudible above the noise of the children. Having said that the children really seemed to enjoy it. You can touch, pull, shout at, jump on, draw on most of the exhibits and the children liked the interactivity of the museum. We had to queue for ages for the toilets, although they do have in the ladies toilets anyway, two child size toilets and two adult toilets not enough for a day with this many visitors. On the whole it was an exhausting experience and very very noisey. It is too easy to lose your children. I struggled to hang on to the whereabouts of the 3 children. There were many calls for lost children over the Tannoy. Children just rush from one thing to another there is no natural direction to follow from one exhibit to the next making it exhausting to keep up with them. Our recent visit to the 'Centre for LIFE' in Newcastle was much more pleasurable.
