What a superb find! This house is a real gem - and in none of the guide books I found of the area. Not far from Dorchester we came upon it on the way from Hardy's birthplace to the Cerne Abbas giant. It's a lovely Tudor/Stuart manor house with plenty of charm and fine carvings and portraits (including a woinderful one of Charles I). A real must see for anyone who wants to see a beautiful fortified manor house from the period that has not been messed around with over the proceeding centuries! A full five stars from me!
