Enjoyed our stay - will go again. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Food very good and reasonably priced. Did not wait too long either to be served or for meal to arrive. Room warm and comfortable, plenty of hot water. Only critism would be it is ready for re-decoration. All in all a very pleasant stay.

I was a guest of a fairly larger booking of Sunday lunch for 19 adults. We had preordered the roast we required (beef, lamb or pork) The service was very poor. It took 30 mins to be served our meals with the first meal being eaten before the last one was served. Only two young waitresses were available. Once the meals were served we were asked if any drinks were required. After a long gap our plates were taken and again after a long delay we were offered dessert. We started at 1pm finishing at 3.30pm. No one stayed for coffee. We did not know how long it would take. The cutlery had been left in beer jugs on the tables. The tables were placed so that it was not possible to sit down due to the beams in the room. WE had to rearrange them so as to make ouselves comfortable. In conclusion a disappointing lunch. The food was cold by the time it reached the table. The hotel would have made more money has we been welcomed and offered more hospitality. This establishment has been newly refurbish. It needs to improve to attract more Sunday lunch customers if it wants the business.

Good Points: Reasonable size room. Convenience of the restaurant. Staff in the restaurant were very pleasant and helpful. Bad Points: Was fine for an overnight stay, but couldn't sit up in bed to read and no comfortable chair to sit in to do the same. Would like to have been warned that there was no lift, so would have requested a ground floor room. General Review: Had to wait a while to get the key from the barman (reception wasn't staffed) and he was concentrating on serving his customers. For some reason the bath towels and soap (which were hidden in the towels) weren't in the bathroom but on a chair in the bedroom. Would like to have been warned that there was no lift, so would have requested a ground floor room.
