An unique and gem of a shop. There a not enough shops like this one. Please support your independent traders before they all disappear.

Sweeten's is the only independent bookshop for miles around and one of the best in the country. Pass through the ancient timber framed door into a veritable cornucopia of books; well lit,and beautifully displayed, with friendly, knowledgeable staff, passionate about books, with a genuine Lancashire welcome. Browse for as long as like, buy one, pop next door, or down to the Old Pastie Shop opposite the Old Man and Scythe, find yourself a bench, and start reading. Support your local bookshop. We can't afford to lose gem's like this.

I live in the U.S.A. but was born and raised in Bolton. My mother loves this store so on a visit last december I went and was hooked. I love the selections and the staff were wonderful

Sweetens is my favourite shop in Bolton. The staff are fantastic and forever helpful, nothing is too much trouble, unlike staff in some of the bigger chain bookshops. Good manners and customer service are the order of the day and they stock a superb range of books.
