BOOK NORTHUMBERLAND HOTELS

River Aln, Northumberland

River Aln
The River Aln is a minor river that flows through the north-east region of England. The river gives its name to the town of Alnwick , the village of Alnmouth and also to Alnham at its source in the Cheviot Hills . The river rises at Alnham and discharges into the North Sea on the east coast of England. The River Aln enters the North Sea north of Newcastle upon Tyne and south of the Scottish border and has many times been of historical significance in the wars between England and Scotland. The river was often heavily defended in the past as a result of its position.
