Practised as a lawyer. Became Justice of the Peace and High Sheriff of Durham County. Founded the New Sporting Magazine in 1831. Wrote Jorrock’s Jaunts and Jollities (1838), Hillingdon Hall (1845) and Mr Sponge’s Sporting Tour (1853).
