Born on 12th of March 1949

Born 1949 - Conservative politician, barrister, broadcaster and journalist.

Studied at Christ’s Church, Cambridge, Chairman of the University Conservative Association. Became a barrister in 1972 anda Queen’s Counsel in 1987. Became MP for Putney in 1979. In 1990 became Chief Secretary to the Treasury in John Major’s Cabinet., made Secretary of State in 1992. Involved in affair with Antonia de Sancha in 1992. Resigned in September 1992 when evidence of his accepting a free holiday emerged. Has subsequently has written for the Evening Standard, The Guardian and The People and presented a number of radio shows.
