Born 1833. Died 1886 - Architect and designer.

His best known early works in the Gothic style include Northampton Town Hall and the Town Hall, Congleton. His later designs were influenced by the Japanese style. Was also a designer of theatrical costumes and scenery. Was the lover of Ellen Terry, their son was Edward Gordon Craig.
