Born 1443. Died 1509 – Mother of Henry VII and matriarch of all european royalty.
Daughter of John Beaufort, 1st Duke of Somerset. Imprisoned by the Yorkists during the War of the Roses. Helped Henry VIII to gain the Crown. Was a benefactress of Oxford and Cambridge universities. Founded Christ’s College and St John’s College. Patron of William Caxton.
