Wolds Way North Yorkshire

Location: North and East Yorkshire.
Length: 127km (79 miles).
Average number of days to complete: 5.
Users: 100% for walkers, 47% available for cyclists and horse riders too. Highest point: Near Thixendale 215 metres/705 ft.
Start point: The Humber foreshore at Hessle – near the Humber Bridge 3km (2 miles) from Hull.
Finish point: Filey Brigg outcrop, on the coast 11km (7miles) South of Scarborough.
Landscape: A mixture of rolling chalk wolds with large airy field tops and dramatic dry valleys.
Highlights: Humber Bridge, the parkland at Londesborough Estate, the dry valleys and villages on route, Wharram Percy and Filey Brigg.
Famous Associations: Dick Turpin, William Bradley Englands tallest man, Goodmanham, birthpace of northern christianity.
Trail Officers favourite part: 'Fridaythorpe to Thixendale and Wharram Percy for the sense of freedom and big skies'.
Nearest towns: Hull – 3km (2 miles), York is 32km (20 miles) (75 minutes by train to Hull), Scarborough is 11km (7 miles) (15 minutes by train to Filey, and 90 minutes to Hull).
Access: Hessle (is 5 minutes by train from Hull) and 3 hours from London and 2 ½ hours from Newcastle by train. Filey is 75minutes by direct train from Hull.
