Odcombe is a delightful village positioned in the county of Somerset, it's surrounded by beautiful countryside and is home to over seven hundred and fifty people. The village has an interesting history and dates far back in time to the Saxons. Today's visitor will discover the mellow Ham stone cottages and houses fashioned from stone quarried nearby, and a thatched Inn where a warm welcome is on offer, artists and photographers are often tempted, and will stake their position as they capture this enchanting scene. At the centre of the village on the highest point stands the impressive church dedicated to St Peter and St Paul which dates back to the 13th Century, it has a fabulous 15th Century tower with a clock and six bells, and although it has a Norman font, the church was enlarged and re-built during the 19th Century. This small village has a pleasing feel with places to stay, a few shops, and an attractive Inn, and is famed for being the home of Thomas Coryate who was born in the village in the 16th Century and decided to walk to Italy and beyond, describing his journey in a Travel Guide, which later became popular with those who followed in taking The Grand Tour.
