Fintry is a small attractive village sitting at the edge of Scotland’s central lowlands situated at the head of the Strathendrick valley high up on the Endrick Water to the north of Glasgow. Historically interesting features include Culcreuch Castle currently a hotel complete with interesting décor, three resident ghosts and the largest colony of bats in Britain in the roof-space, Dunmore House the former manse was built in 1723, the Parish church dates from 1823 and there is an interesting low Bridge of Gonacahan, nearby lie the ruins of a medieval motte and bailey of the Grahams of Fintry. The pretty village has been the winner of the ‘Best Kept Small Village in Britain’ and ‘Britain in Bloom’ competitions and is a popular tourist destination within easy commuting distance of Falkirk, Stirling and Glasgow and the many attractions they have to offer.
