Betws-yn-Rhos is a picturesque village in the County of Conwy, in the northern part of Wales, and is home to just over nineteen hundred people. It's positioned at the base of a mountain in a pretty valley, and dates far back into the history books to the Bronze Age Settlers who first moved here. Agriculture and fishing has been the main industry for centuries, although tourism takes its place today, walkers are drawn to the area which is surrounded by attractive countryside, hills and the dramatic Conwy Valley. A walk around the village will uncover pleasant houses, and cottages, and an impressive church that's dedicated to St Michael. The earlier church was dismantled and re-built in the 19th Century; the Victorian architecture is impressive and has two turrets which support a bell. It was once on an important coaching route that journeyed from Chester to Conwy, a legacy of which remains with the attractive 17th Century Inn, although it originates from the 13th Century when it first served ale, it still continues to look after travellers today, there's an interesting bar, and a village shop. This award winning village which is positioned a few miles from the coast has a good range of places to stay from cottages, farmhouses and B&B's, to chalets, and camp sites.
