Blanchardstown is a large suburb on the outskirts of Dublin, six or seven miles north west of the city centre. Although Blanchardstown is a residential and business centre, and the location of many famous multinational companies, it's popular with visitors too. Day trippers flock from all over Ireland to Blanchardstown Centre, a massive shopping and entertainment mall that also contains the country's biggest public library. The complex boasts more than180 shops, from bargain outlets to high street stores and exclusive boutiques, as well as lots of cafés and restaurants, a multi-screen cinema, a tenpin bowling alley, a dodgem track, Q-Zar laser tag, a soft play area for small children, and an arts centre. Travellers staying in Blanchardstown are perfectly placed to enjoy one of Europe's most historic and vibrant cities to the full, and many of Dublin's great attractions are nearby. They include the vast and lovely Phoenix Park, which is home to many attractions, among them Dublin Zoo, Ashtown Castle - a medieval tower house, and Farmleigh house and gardens, which host a series of summer cultural events. Also close to Blanchardstown are Hollystown Golf Club, Fairyhouse Racecourse and the National Aquatic Centre, where families can enjoy hours of splashing fun in the pools and rides.
