Winslow is a small North Buckinghamshire market town in the Vale of Aylesbury, near Buckingham itself. It has a population of about 6,000 but the recent expansion hasn’t lost any of its characterful charm, mostly from the Georgian era. The most magnificent building here is believed to have been designed by Sir Christopher Wren in the early 18th century – Winslow Hall. The grand house was a family home, boarding school, used by the RAF in WWII but most recently viewed for private purchase by the former British PM Tony Blair! Annually there is The Winslow Show on late August Bank Holiday Monday. It has dog agility, a gymkhana, historic cars, a tug of war, etc & is a great family day out. The beautiful church of St Laurence is centrally located and dates from Norman times. To visit this appealing little town there is one hotel, The Bell, in the Market Square, with fine dining and a bar menu and two other pubs to choose from – the Nags Head and The George Inn.
