Ullesthorpe is a small village in the county of Leicestershire, surrounded by attractive countryside, home to eight hundred and fifty people. The old windmill stands at the centre of the village and hails from Medieval times, and the toll houses on the Old Turnpike Road betwixt Hinckley and Lutterworth grace many an Artists page. Museum lovers will head for the Lutterworth Museum which has an interesting collection of exhibits, and the Hinckley and District Museum which is housed in an enchanting row of 17th Century thatched cottages and tells the historic tale of knitters. If that's not enough the National Gas Museum has mesmerising exhibits including a 1920's kitchen and gas hairdryer, and the complete story of gas is proudly explained.
For those who yearn to be outside, take a look at the acres of stunning parkland and woodland of Coombe Country Park, complete with massive lake, Heronry, and woodland trails, or there is always Fosse Meadows and Nature Park where the ancient Roman Fosse Way and River Soar meet, there's interesting paths that lead their visitor on a journey of discovery, or why not stroll alongside the pretty towpath on the Ashby Canal, for tired feet climb aboard one of the colourful boats and enjoy the ever changing scenery and the flash of kingfisher's as they dive.
