Barrow Upon Humber is an attractive rural village nestling in the county of Lincolnshire, and it is home to over two and a half thousand people. It's fascinating history is plain to see with the warm red brick built houses and cottages from the 18th, and 19th Century lining the roads, and around the ancient Market Place which saw wrong doers placed in the Stocks during Medieval times. The village grew from a small agricultural settlement when the Anglo Saxons founded a Monastery here in the 7th Century which was to be destroyed by Danish invaders a couple of hundred years later. Today's visitors and holiday makers alike will discover several shops to browse, and pubs to try, there is a delightful church which is dedicated to the Holy Trinity whose impressive tower graces the skyline, an ancient water pump still standing in Beck Lane, and a stream which flows through the village on its way to the Humber enhances the scene. There is a choice of places to stay from B&B's, and hotels nearby, and as it is only a couple of miles or so from the bustling town of Barton Upon Humber with its fine Suspension bridge it is ideally placed.
