Waterstock is small village in Oxfordshire, situated on a bend of the River Thame. It is located approximately 6 miles west of Thame and 3.5 miles from Wheatley. In the village itself there are around fifty 17th and 18th century farmhouses and cottages built from local brick, centred around the village church of St Leonard’s. A war memorial stands on the small village green, erected after the First World War. The Oxford Services motorway service station is located just outside the village. The Waterstock public golf course is situated near here on the Thame Road. There is a strong equestrian presence in the village and Waterstock House Training Centre was once the main equestrian centre of the area, owned by the famous Lars Sederholm, a well known horse trainer. Many of the royal family have ridden there in competitions. It was recently split into two separate parts with the main house being sold separately and the other half converted into a conference centre and catering establishment. Nearby is the village of Waterperry, best known for the Waterperry Gardens, located at the end of the single road, and for the Annual Art in Action festival held at the Waterperry House.
