King's Sutton is a village and civil parish in the southernmost corner of Northamptonshire and the border of Oxfordshire. King's Sutton is 4.5 miles from Banbury. The village is most famous for its association with the legend of St Rumbold. King's Sutton was said to be the birth and death place of St Rumbold, an infant who during his short three-day life was said to have spoken holy words, declared himself a Christian and became baptised. The Church of St Peter and St Paul has evolved over the centuries, with the oldest part being the font, associated with the Baptism of St Rumbold in 662AD. St. Rumbold’s Well can be found in Astrop Road. King’s Sutton also has its own Bog Spring, opened in 1749, in the days when St Rumbold’s Well was said to have possessed great healing properties. The village holds an annual classical music festival during the summer months and there is also an annual Literary Festival in March. Shops and amenities include the memorial hall, a post office, and a mini supermarket. The village stocks stand on the edge of the village green. There are also playing fields and a recreation ground. The village has three pubs, The Butcher’s Arms, The White Horse and The Three Tuns.
