Henley-on-Thames is a town on the River Thames in south Oxfordshire. It is located near the corner between the counties of Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Buckinghamshire. Just a few strides from the riverbank is the very heart of Henley with its historic town hall and semi-pedestrianised market square. Henley Bridge is a five arched bridge built in 1786 that crosses the Thames from Henley to Remenham. The church of St. Mary is located nearby and features a tower built in the 16th century. Bell Street is the main street in Henley featuring many shops and restaurants. Duke Street is the second most prominent street with numerous shops of varying types. Henley is a world renowned centre for rowing, holding the annual Henley Royal Regatta for four days in late June/early July. The regatta is held on a stretch of the river that is naturally straight. The annual Henley Festival of Music and Arts follows the Regatta. It is possible to take a boat trip down the regatta course, either in a rowing boat or by pleasure boat. The River and Rowing Museum, located in Mill Meadows Park, is the town's museum. It features information on the River Thames, the sport of rowing, and the town of Henley itself.
